We all know stuff happens on the track, be it in real life or in the virtual world. Sometimes it is very clear and other times, it is a matter of opinion who is at fault.
I am not new to competitive racing online and have competed with the IFCA, DMR and TORA. I just joined The Paddock and after two races.......I have some concerns. There is no penalty for poor decisions and driving in this league. So far I have seen the same driver in two separate races dive bomb, make contact, spin people out and rear end someone into the first turn on lap one and go on to win the race while the others are left with a frustrating experience. These are not short races and take a significant amount of investment in time to participate in.
I would recommend an immediate overhaul of the rules to make sure incidents are properly dealt with at the time it occurred. In one of the leagues I raced in that worked well was if you made a mistake and spun someone or drove someone into the wall causing damage, caution was called and both drivers (or more) were put to the back of their class (the offender is now in last place.) If you contacted someone and forced them off track, spun them etc. and no damage was incurred but gained a position because of it, you are required to pull over off line or slow down and wait for them to regain the spot you took from them. In either situation, if they do not give the place back, they are disqualified from the race and are on probation for the next three races. Obviously it's very hard to police this during the race and we will have to rely on the racers involved but as it stands right now, these races are very similar to a lobby race......no penalties for ramming, spinning and bullying your way to the top step of the podium.
I'm happy to concede to a faster driver that makes no contact and wins on merit than a guy who bulldozes his way through the field. Just my 2 cents.
